Last Updated: May 24, 2026

Happy Gut is a mobile app for IBS and FODMAP support. This Privacy Policy explains what information the current app actually uses, when that information stays on your device, and when it is sent to third-party services that power specific features.

Important: Happy Gut does not currently offer account creation, login, email sign-in, Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, or profile pages. We therefore do not collect account credentials such as usernames or passwords through the app.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you enter in the app

When you use Happy Gut, the app can store information that you choose to add, including:

This information is primarily stored locally on your device.

1.2 Anonymous device and app identifiers

The app creates a stable anonymous installation identifier and may collect limited device and app metadata, such as app version, device/OS information, and subscription state, to support analytics, diagnostics, and premium access.

1.3 Information sent when you use cloud-powered features

Some app features send content to cloud services only when you choose to use them. These features include:

2. How We Use Information

We use information processed by the app to:

3. Where Information Is Stored

3.1 On your device

Happy Gut stores a significant portion of your app data locally on your device, including diary entries, symptom logs, progress data, preferences, and the app's anonymous installation identifier.

3.2 Cloud services used by specific features

When you use AI or cloud-assisted features, selected information is transmitted to services operated through Google Firebase and Google Cloud. Depending on the feature, this can include image data, audio data, menu URLs, search text, language selection, and analysis progress/results.

For example, menu analysis features use Firebase Cloud Functions and may store in-progress analysis data in Firebase Cloud Firestore so the app can resume and display results.

3.3 Subscriptions and billing

Subscription purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. Happy Gut also uses RevenueCat to manage subscription status across the app. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to operate the app and its services, including with:

We may also disclose information when required by law, to respond to valid legal requests, or to protect the safety, rights, and integrity of the app, our users, or others.

5. Permissions and Optional Features

The app may ask for access to the following device permissions:

If you do not grant a permission, the related feature will not work, but you can continue using other parts of the app.

The current app does not implement push notifications, account-based messaging, or in-app social features.

6. Your Choices

If you contact us at contact.localbites@gmail.com, we may use the information in your message to respond to your request and support the app.

7. Analytics and Diagnostics

Happy Gut uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. These services help us understand app usage, monitor reliability, and improve the product.

The analytics events implemented in the app are intended to measure product behavior such as screen views, feature usage, subscription state, and conversion events. Crashlytics is used to collect crash and error diagnostics.

While we do not use account credentials in the app, analytics and diagnostics may still involve device, technical, and pseudonymous identifiers. These services are part of the current app implementation.

8. Children's Privacy

Happy Gut is not intended for children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we will review the request.

9. Medical Disclaimer

Happy Gut is designed to support food, symptom, and diet tracking. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical guidance.
